German Sallet, circa 1490, 1.6 mm steel

This very authentic reconstruction of the German Sallet dated around 1490 is driven from 1.6 mm (approx. 16 gauge) thick steel sheet. The visor is fixed with beautiful, hand-forged rivets. It is locked by a pin mounted in the lowest stage. The helmet has a comfortable leather liner and a solid chinstrap with buckle.
The late medieval helmet type Sallet was usually worn with a matching bevor or gorget.
