BMSB Chain Mail Coif with square mouth guard
The chain mail coif is made from round un-riveted rings woven 4 in 1. The blackened surface of the rings provides protection from corrosion (rust).
We call this type of chain mail Butted Mild Steel Blackened.
It covers the shoulder completely and has an authentic square facial opening. Furthermore, it features a foldable square mouth guard, on which leather straps are sewn on the sides. The mouth guard has been padded inside and fitted with leather.
This kind of chain mail coif was very popular in High Middle Ages with e.g. the Norman or crusaders.
We suggest wearing a bonnet underneath the coif.
