This simple, functional Kappalin helmet is an authentic replica of a medieval iron cap and is ideal for portraying ordinary foot soldiers and medieval warriors. The characteristic, wide-brimmed rim protects the face, neck and shoulders from falling blows and gives the helmet its distinctive medieval appearance.
The kettle hat, also known as Eisenhut, was one of the most common types of helmets in medieval Europe. It was primarily the ordinary foot soldiers who used this sturdy helmet design, though knights could also wear them, for example, in very hot weather. In the 15th century, various forms of the iron hat evolved into, amongst others, the Schaller, in which the design of the brim and neck guard underwent increasing changes.
To ensure a secure fit, the Kappalin is fitted with a leather lining and an adjustable leather chin strap. This allows the helmet to be adjusted to suit the wearer and ensures a comfortable fit.
This fully wearable medieval helmet is ideal for medieval reenactment, Living History, LARP, historical events, theatre and film productions, as well as for collectors and medieval-themed displays. Its understated design makes it easy to combine with a wide range of late-medieval armour and 15th-century costumes.

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain helmets (and armour in general) on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
